Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 09/30/26

1. Introduction

Welcome to Nelson & Nelson, Attorneys at Law, P.C. Your privacy is important to us, and we are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website and use our services, including SMS messaging.

2. Information Received

We receive various types of personal information including but not limited to:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • IP address
  • Information about an injury, your job, and your wages that you choose to give us in our case-evaluation form (for example the body part injured, your average weekly wage, your injury date, your treatment, and your employer's name)
  • Other information provided voluntarily through our forms or interactions with our services.

3. How We Collect Information

We collect personal information through:

  • Forms completed on our website
  • Direct interactions with our customer service team
  • Automated technologies such as cookies and analytics tools

Our case-evaluation form has two parts. When you submit the first part (your name, a phone number or email, and a few injury details), we save it right away and an attorney may contact you, even if you do not answer the remaining questions. If you continue, each additional answer is saved when you press Continue.

We do not save anything you type into the form until you press a button to submit it.

4. Purpose of Data Collection

We use your data for the following purposes:

  • To provide and manage our services
  • To improve website functionality and user experience
  • To communicate with you regarding our services, including SMS messaging
  • To comply with legal and regulatory requirements including Illinois Rules of Professional Conduct, particularly Rule 1.6 regarding client confidentiality.

5. SMS Consent and Data Usage

If you give us your phone number, we may call you about your inquiry. We send text messages only if you separately check the SMS consent box, which is never pre-checked and is not required to use our forms. SMS opt-in data and phone numbers collected will NOT be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.

Users may opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying "STOP."

6. Data Security

We implement security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee its absolute security.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal data. We may share your information with trusted third-party service providers only for necessary business operations and compliance with legal obligations. These include the providers that host our website forms database (Supabase) and deliver our form notification emails (Resend).

8. User Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request corrections to any inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your data where applicable
  • Withdraw consent for data processing

9. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our website may use cookies to enhance user experience. Users can adjust cookie settings through their browser preferences.

To help our team respond to inquiries and understand how visitors reach us, our site stores a small amount of information in your browser (not third-party advertising cookies):

  • nn_journey (session storage): the pages you view during a single visit, the page you arrived on, and any campaign parameters in the link you followed. Cleared when you close the browser tab.
  • nn_first_touch (local storage): the date and general source of your first visit, used only to note whether a contact is a returning visitor.
  • nn_intake_* (local storage): your in-progress answers on our case-evaluation form and, after you submit the first part, a reference number and a temporary key that lets you finish the remaining questions on the same device for up to 24 hours. Cleared when you finish, or automatically after 24 hours.

If you complete our case-evaluation or contact forms, the above visit information is attached to your submission so the right attorney can follow up. You can clear this information at any time through your browser's site-data controls.

We use Google Analytics to count how visitors use our pages and forms. We do not send your name, email, phone number, or the injury details you enter to Google Analytics.

10. Data Retention

We keep information from our case-evaluation form, including the first part if you do not finish, for as long as needed to respond to you and to meet our professional obligations, and then delete it according to our retention schedule.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to update this policy at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Effective Date."
