Reed Nelson is a Partner at Nelson & Nelson, Attorneys at Law, P.C. Reed was born and raised in Mascoutah, IL where he attended elementary school and high school. In 2008, he graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 2013, Reed graduated from the Saint Louis University School of Law where his studies focused on civil litigation, workers’ compensation, and civil rights under state and federal law. His practice focuses primarily on civil litigation and workers’ compensation. Reed has a passion for helping people and understands that as a lawyer, he has an opportunity to help people when their situations are most dire. His practice focuses on helping people who have been seriously injured.
Just a month into his practice, Reed co-counseled a week-long jury trial in St. Clair County, IL, resulting in a multi-million dollar verdict for his client. Since then, he has helped to recover millions of dollars for his clients in claims ranging from trucking accidents, motorcycle accidents, car accidents, workers’ compensation and employment discrimination. Reed has volunteered with the St. Clair County Public Defender’s office, winning his first criminal trial. He is licensed to practice law in Illinois and Missouri and in US District Court in the Southern District of Illinois.
Having appeared for plaintiffs and injured workers throughout Illinois and Missouri, Reed prides himself on working for accident victims who need help. He is a member of the Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys (ATAA), the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association (ITLA). Reed serves with roughly 200 other attorneys on the Illinois State Bar Association’s Assembly, the supreme policymaking body of the ISBA.
Reed lives in the City of St. Louis with his wife and three dogs. He is an avid rugby player, having played since 2002 for several teams in the Midwest and Southwest. He also enjoys hiking, camping, and horseback riding with his wife and three dogs. Reed has competed in a 340 mile canoe race, the MR340, three times – once with his dad, Robert C. Nelson, and younger brother. If Reed is not in the office, he is likely pursuing one of these activities.
