Just north of Edwardsville, IL, a motorcycle rider was rear-ended by a company vehicle while he was stopped at a construction zone. The motorcycle rider, Reed’s client, suffered severe injuries and was airlifted from the scene. The defendant driver denied liability and tried to deny that he was driving a company truck. The insurance company defending the truck driver also tried to claim that some of Reed’s client’s injuries were pre-existing. Reed fought hard in court and in depositions for his client. He was able to conduct a thorough investigation, interviewing and deposing witnesses, producing video of the effects of the injury on his client, and interviewing his client’s doctors to discuss the pre-existing defense. There was no offer from the insurance company before Reed got on the case, but after the investigation and litigation, the insurance company accepted Reed’s initial demand and paid a confidential multi-million dollar settlement. Reed’s client was thrilled.
